Protecting Price Park - Pilot
Urban Offsets, the City of Greensboro and Greensboro Beautiful joined forces to build the city’s first community carbon bank. The carbon credits from this project will help Elon University meet its carbon neutrality goal as part of the university’s Sustainability Master Plan.
Incorporated in 1968, Greensboro Beautiful, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c) 3 volunteer organization which partners with the City and citizens of Greensboro to conserve and enhance the beauty and ecology of their community.
Located between the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Library Branch and Jefferson Elementary, Price Park is protected by the City of Greensboro. It houses a Butterfly Meadow and several walking trails.
The project trees are located along the driveway to the Kathleen Clay Library. More can be found up the hill along Hobbs Road.
This project serves as a proof of concept for the Duke Carbon Offset Initiative's Urban Forestry Carbon Offset Protocol and is one of the first community-based carbon projects in the country.
