Davidson College is a private liberal arts college in Davidson, North Carolina and sits on a historic 665-acre main campus with a 110-acre lake. Davidson's Climate Action Plan, submitted in 2010, states a carbon neutrality date of 2050 with interim goals at 2020 and 2030. The Office of Sustainability has strong efforts that are intertwined with academics, co-curricular experiences, and residential life. Some of their highlighted programs include work-study positions, Sustainability Scholars, community-based learning program, and a sustainability- themed international living program in a historic home near campus.
Davidson College, as one of the first purchasers of community-based carbon offsets, has shown thought-leadership while bridging campus, community, teaching, and research to leverage the assets of each in a mutually beneficial manner.
